Alaska Fly Fishing Trip Itinerary

Arrival day in Anchorage

It is recommended to arrive the day before on Saturday and spend the night in Anchorage.  It is easiest to take a cab or Uber to the charter flight. There may be some flights into Anchorage on the same day in time to meet the Iliamna Air Taxi (IAT) flight on Sunday afternoon.  Please book your commercial flight to Anchorage arriving no later than 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Give yourself ample time to transfer from a commercial flight to your IAT charter flight that does not depart from the main terminal.

You will depart on Sunday between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. from Anchorage International Airport with IAT (to be confirmed in March, 2025).  The flight to Iliamna is roughly 1 hour from Anchorage International in a Pilatus PC12.

Please  note: IAT is a 5-10 minute cab/Uber ride from the main airport. The address is:

 Iliamna Air Taxi
6231 South Airpark Place
Anchorage, AK 99502
(907) 334-9845 (Anchorage) or (907) 571-1248 (Iliamna)

It is your responsibility to get to IAT via hotel shuttle, Uber, or taxi.

Upon arrival in Iliamna, you will be met by the floatplane pilot at the IAT terminal and transferred by van to the to the floatplane lake.  You will then be flown to the Copper River Lodge in a De Havilland Beaver (this is about a 15 minute flight).

Arrival to the Lodge

The guides will meet you at the plane with our boats and transfer you to the lodge.  This is a 5 minute boat ride so keep your jacket out if it is a rainy day.  You will arrive at the lodge late afternoon, and after a brief orientation there will be time to unpack and get your fishing gear ready before dinner.

Monday through Friday

Fish, fish, and fish some more.  Usually breakfast is at 7 a.m. and departure is at 8 a.m. We are typically back to the lodge by 5:30 p.m. for a 7:00 p.m. dinner.  Please note that the schedule can change depending on daily fly outs.  Please visit the Our Fishing Program page to view a general  fishing schedule.

Departure Day

On Saturday, you can get some fishing in if you still need to catch a few fish.  You can usually fish for 5  hours on Saturday.  You will then depart at 2:00-3:00 p.m. on the floatplane.  This gets you to Iliamna in time for the 3:00-4:00 p.m. flight to Anchorage.  You will arrive in Anchorage around 4:00-5:00 p.m.  It is not recommended to book a flight to the lower 48 until after 7:00 p.m. that evening.
